Works Great - Breaks Quickly

| Okay, first off let me explain that I have dry, extremely frizzy curly hair. But not just curly hair. I have spirals and ringlets and waves and it's just a big mess. This product made my hair as straight and as smooth as when I would leave the salon. When I went for my last hair cut my stylist was amazed at how I was able to get it that straight on my own. My hair never broke or became damaged as I followed the instructions on not using any pressure and I cleaned the plates regularly and only used distilled water in the steam reservoir. HOWEVER...I've had this product for 3 months and despite taking excellent care of the unit, it has stopped staying on and will not heat up very well anymore. So, now, because I can't live without this product unless I choose to look like a lunatic all summer, I just ordered another one but this time, for $8 I took the one year extended warranty so if it breaks on me, I can have it replaced. So, yes, this is an excellent product, better than I could have ever imagined but for what it costs, it should be manufactured better. I didn't expect it to last forever but I thought I would at least get a year out of it. Do I recommend it? Definitely, just don't expect it to last too long before needing to be replaced. | |

| I shudder to think what my hair would look like if I hadn't bought my Maxiglide 4 years ago! Living in the very humid climate of Hawaii, I wasn't sure the system would work but I gave it a try and in the first section of hair I thought "OMG! This is fantastic!!!" So much better than ANY other straightener I've owned (and believe me I've owned almost all!!!) For those of you who say it sucks and that you can't straighten all teh hair (Dollie) you aren't using it right and that's your own stupidity. I Love My Maxiglide!!! | |

LOVE MY MAXIGLIDE!!

| I love my Maxiglide XP. Although when i got the Maxiglide in like 2006, I don't remember them calling it the "XP." Anywhoo, it is the ONLY straightener that will straighten my hair and i have been using it for the last 3 years. I have curly, but relaxed hair; and the Maxiglide straightens my hair so well that I don't need to use chemicals like that anymore. My sister has relaxed, course hair and she swears by it. So it really does work on every hair type, and you do have to take your time and section off the hair like in the video. I love it love it love it, however I agree it does not have the longevity it should at it's price point. this is my second Maxiglide. The first one broke after about 6 months, but this has lasted me for 2 1/2 years and its ready to be replaced. The ceramic, metal or whatever is starting to chip around the pins and its pulling my hair out. Its so wonderful, that I don't mind at all paying $80-90 again for another 3 years. | |

| It used to be good, but not anymore. The ceramic layer comes off quick. I had the first one for 2 years, then traded in for the second one for $39.95+$10 shipping. But this second one lasts only 3 months. The ceramic layer comes off. I could have used the money buying CHI. | |

| Bulky as hell! Gives me gigantic hand aches. You loose a ton of hair, in those damn pins! And you can't straighten the top of your head so it looks so stupid! I hated this. Don't buy it. | |

i have had my maxiglide for almost 5 years.
i worked at a company that would answer the phones and sell these. Max came to our weekly meeting to show us how the product worked and gave them to us at a 1/2 price discount. I have very course curly hair and i have always been very sceptical about straightners. but 5 years later i still have my maxiglide and mini. i have been using it everyday for years and the only thing that doesnt work now is the water. i love this product. And max is pretty nice too. =)

SIMPLY THE BEST!

| About 1 year and a half ago, I purchased the Maxiglide at Harmons for under 80 bucks. I had saw it on tv, though really nothing on tv works... So I bought it, and tried it with the brush blade. I hated how the brush blade ripped out my hair, and i didnt even have knotty hair! So I was pissed. Then I tried the other blade that was flat, and OMFG! It really worked! the steam helps my ends to not split, and my hair stays straight for soooo long, and it's lighter, and shiny. I LOVE IT! I reccomend this product who is looking for the results I got. When this one breaks, I will definitley buy it again! Thanks Maximus! | |

| I purchased this product about 2 years ago. I have thin curly hair & it has worked like a charm every time I have used it. That being said, I have only used it a dozen times so I can't vouch for the lifespan of it if you were to use it on a daily/weekly basis. | |
Best flat iron I've found

| I got my first Maxiglide 5 years ago. The first couple times I used it, I wasn't too impressed and it ended up in the back of my closet. Fast forward 2 years: my hair is in much better condition, due to frequent trims and better products and I decide to give the old Maxiglide a try again. I do and I am AMAZED. My hair is STICK straight, soft and silky in one p****and it stays straight..no curling up at the ends. I realize now that my hair was already so damaged from other flat irons, blow drying, coloring and my fear of getting my hair cut, that I had unfairly judged the Maxiglide...it was my hair that was the problem, not the unit. I still have my original Maxiglide...it's 5 years old and STILL works. I purchased the MP about 8 months ago, as I liked the slimmer design. It did break- just stopped working one day, however, I emailed the company and they sent me a new one out IMMEDIATELY, no charge to me. I was very impressed with their customer service. If you have trouble with yours, contact the company. They will make it right. I truly believe if this isn't working for you, you're hair is too damaged or you're not doing it right. You CANNOT squeeze like you do with traditional flat irons. And yes, it will damage your hair. ALL flat irons will damage your hair. The Maxiglide, however, does a lot less damage than traditional irons. I've tried CHI, Solia, and every cheap drugstore flatiron out there and none can come close to the results my Maxiglide gives me. | |

Units stop working

| I have owned 3 Maxi-glides and have always had good results with the performance. The other people who complain about burning their hair probably have the heating element set too high. Those who complain that the units are not straightening their hair, are obviously not partitioning off the sections to get the best results. My hair has always come out great. My only problem with this unit is that one side ceases to heat up after using it for a time. The last unit that I got stopped working properly 5 days ago and the blue light just continues to blink, as one side does not heat up. I agree that the cost of this unit is horrible compared to the reliability of it. This company needs to guarantee their units for longer than just one year. This last unit that I own only lasted 18 months. | |
Not That Great!!

| My bought this for my 13 yr old daughter for Christmas and it was a waste of money. By the 30 days had passed it was Christmas. She used it several times and we are really disappointed. IT is way to expense for what they sell it for. The extra serums don't help either they just make her hair gummy. Her hair looked like it had gum in it and was really hard to get it hard.I would not recommend it to anyone!! | |

I have very curly and frizzy hair. This has been the only production that would straighten my hair without the damage. I use it daily. Notice that I said WOULD.
I have been through 2 of them.....due to them breaking. I had the first for a little over two years. I purchased the 2nd one 9/2008 and it stopped working by the first of the year. If they could work out the issues with the product breaking (and I have read a lot of comments where they do break alot) it would rate top scores from me. I could see a cheaper priced straightener not lasting but to pay over $100 you would think that it would last a lot longer.

| I have used the Maxius Straightener for about seven years. My hair is very curly, very coarse, and very thick. Other than my family, no one knows that because I have gorgeous, down-my-back, silky, straight hair. I don't know what I'd do without it!! | |

| These work HORRIBLE! I have the mini and the regular and they suck. When I go to the salon I get beautifully straightened hair, when I use my maxiglides I get poofy frizzy hair. I have GREAT Paul Mitchell and nexus hair products. DON'T waste ur money...and yeah I have the DVD and all of that nonsense. This just sucks! | |
my review and some advice

| PLEASE READ. I KNOW ITS LONG BUT ITS IMPORTANT. I got the maxiglide for christmas last year. I loved it for about 6 months, and I would use it at least once a week. If not, more. After about six months, I noticed my hair started to break off. I was using heat protectant serum, and putting it on the lowest setting possible. My hair would also get frizzy. I started to lay off on the straightening for a while to let my curly hair grow out before i start using the maxiglide again. But yesterday, I used my old straightener that I had before I got my maxiglide, and I used a new serum, John Freida Frizz-Ease hair serum. My hair is beautiful and shiny, and doesn't get frizzy. My advice is, if you are going to use it once a week or more, I suggest you don't buy this product. If you are going to use it for special occasions or once a month, I suggest you do buy this product. I just don't want anyone to go through what I had to go through with my hair. My hair broke off on the bottom, right above my ears, and in the front. But, if you use hair serum, I highly suggest using John Fried Frizz-Ease hair serum, because when i used my maxiglide, I used Gardiner Fructis hair serum, and my hair would come out frizzy and i would always have to wear it in a ponytail. After I used John Frieda, I could wear my hair down and it was so soft! So, those are my suggestions and advice. I hope this helps! | |
